A roofing contractor is dead after falling through a roof at an industrial site in west Auckland today.

Police said the man was working on a roof two storeys up a building in Kelston about 6.30am when he fell through the roof and died of head injuries.

The Labour Department had been called and police and health and safety inspectors were investigating.
